How Much Does Ukraine Insurance Cost?

The 3-day price, the extra day, and why a euro figure on the page is not the card charge.

Example: a parent and a child with German passports plan a 180-day summer stay, based in Rivne with days in Uman. Two figures set the price of that stay for each of them: the 3-day price and the extra-day rate of the plan they choose.

Basic starts at €3.56 for 3 days plus €1.08 for each extra day, per person. Extended starts at €5.75 for 3 days plus €1.73 for each extra day. The 3-day figure is the price of a 3-day policy, not a daily rate. You pay in hryvnia.

Key points

  • Basic starts at €3.56 for 3 days plus €1.08 for each extra day, per person.
  • Extended starts at €5.75 for 3 days plus €1.73 for each extra day, per person.
  • One policy runs for 3 to 180 days.
  • You pay in hryvnia. A euro figure shown before payment is an estimate.

What the three-day price means

The 3-day price is the price of a whole policy that lasts 3 days, for one person: Basic starts at €3.56 and Extended starts at €5.75. It is not a charge per day that is then multiplied by three.

A stay of exactly 3 days is that price, per person, on the chosen plan. The parent and the child in this example would each be at that 3-day price if the stay were only 3 days. Each is priced at their own rate.

What an extra day adds

Every day after the third adds a fixed extra, per person, on that plan. Basic adds €1.08. Extended adds €1.73. The extra is the same on a short stay and on a long one.

A stay longer than 3 days is the 3-day price plus that extra for each day after the third, per person. To price a longer stay, count the days after the third and add the plan's extra once for each of those days.

Any length of 3 to 180 days

One policy runs for 3 to 180 days. The 180-day summer in this example is the longest single policy, not a different rate. Day 4 through day 180 each add the same extra-day rate on the plan. For the 180-day example, that is 177 days at the extra-day rate.

Choose dates that cover the whole stay. The policy shows the start date and the end date.

The limits of the two plans are set out in the two plans side by side.

Why the euro figure is an estimate

You pay in hryvnia. A euro figure shown before payment is an estimate at that day's rate. The €3.56, €1.08, €5.75 and €1.73 above are those estimates. After payment, the charge is the hryvnia amount, and a completed payment is not restated in euro.

The two rates side by side

3-day pricestarts at €3.56starts at €5.75
Each day after the third€1.08€1.73
In a comparison, the limit€2,000€30,000

Outside a comparison, Basic's limit is 100,000 UAH (≈ €2,000) and Extended's limit is €30,000, per person. The limit is not the price. The price is the 3-day line plus the extra day.

The visa rules ask that a valid policy cover at least €30,000 or its equivalent, unless other legislation or treaties set a different rule. Diplomatic and service passports fall outside that requirement, as of 1 October 2026. The foreign ministry's visa information lists the same item for applicants: a valid medical or travel insurance policy that covers Ukraine and the period of stay, with a minimum of €30,000 or equivalent coverage. Basic covers 100,000 UAH (≈ €2,000), which is below that threshold, so choose Extended if the policy is for a visa file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 3-day price a daily rate?

No. Basic starts at €3.56 for a 3-day policy, and Extended starts at €5.75 for a 3-day policy. Each day after the third adds €1.08 on Basic and €1.73 on Extended, per person.

Does a longer policy change the extra-day rate?

No. On a given plan, every day after the first three adds the same rate per person, €1.08 on Basic and €1.73 on Extended. A 10-day policy and a 180-day policy use that same extra-day rate.

Will my card be charged the euro figure?

No. Payment is taken in hryvnia, so the euro figure shown ahead of payment is an estimate.

Do two travellers double the rate?

The rates are per person. In the example on this page a parent and a child are two insured people, so each is priced at the rate of the plan.
